Bread-making is a great way to get kids in the kitchen. The smells and the tactile quality of bread-making are great treats for young chefs.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live. John 3:16 (NIV) |
The following recipe for easy yeast rolls is simple yet tasty, and not just for kids to make. These rolls save time and effort for adults as well. You can add your own favorites, like cinnamon and sugar before rolling. My favorite is brown sugar and extra butter rolled inside the rolls.
INGREDIENTS:
1 package (1/4 oz.) active dry yeast
1-1/2 cups warm water (110-115 degrees F)
3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 package (9 oz.) white or yellow cake mix
1/2 teaspoon salt
Melted butter or margarine
STEPS:
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
Beat in the flour, dry cake mix and salt. Do not knead this mixture.
Place in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about an hour.
Punch down dough and divide into halves.
Roll each portion into a 12-inch circle.
Cut each circle into 12 wedges.
Roll up, beginning at the wide end.
Place pointy-side down on greased baking sheets. Brush with butter.
Cover and let rise until doubled, about 25 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. This will make 24 rolls.
