and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live. John 3:16 (NIV) |
Ingredients:
2-16oz. size bag of Large elbow macaroni
1- block of Velveeta brand processed cheese (Cubed)
1-32oz. block of sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese (Grated)
1-16 oz. block of Swiss or provolone cheese (Grated)
4 Tbsp of grated Parmesan Cheese
1 quart of heavy whipping cream
2 Tbsp of oregano
2 quarts of water
This recipe for baked macaroni and cheese has been in my family for years and is always a favorite at Thanksgiving and other family gatherings. If you follow the recipe you will have enough Mac and cheese to fill two 13x9 baking pans.
To begin, bring water to boil in a large kettle or sauce pan. Next, add the macaroni and cook until pasta has softened, al dente is preferred as it will continue to cook in the oven. Then you will strain the pasta and return it to the sauce pan on low heat after removing water. Slowly begin adding the whipping cream until you can just see the cream through the pasta. Next cube the Velveeta cheese and begin adding the cubes gradually, giving them time to melt into the mixture. Once the Velveeta has melted, add in the Swiss or provolone and let it melt.
By now the pasta and cheese mixture should reach a thick, creamy consistency. At this point, you can add more cream to if the mixture is too thick for your preference.
Once the mixture has reached the desired consistency, equally divide the pasta and cheese into the two 13x9 pans, spreading out the mac and cheese to make it even. Next spread the grated cheddar cheese over the two pans, distributing evenly. After the cheddar, generously sprinkle Parmesan enough to cover each pan. The Parmesan cheese will add both texture and flavor to the top crust. Last of all, sprinkle oregano over each pan to taste. Not only will this dish taste delicious but look mouth watering.
This delicious oven baked macaroni and cheese dish will be a hit at your next holiday dinner, a special dinner for friends or just a nice meal with your family at home, if you have extra this mac and cheese makes great leftovers. Make this dish apart of your family dinner recipe collection.
Bake in a 450 degree oven for 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Let cool for 20 minutes and enjoy!
