I love experiencing outdoor occasions and events, with wonderful weather, ambiance, and the perfect time of year for enjoying the outdoors. Especially when I can cook my favorite foods to enhance the occasion, I can relax and unwind completely in my own outdoor kitchen, lounge on my outdoor furniture, and take in my outdoor landscaping.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live. John 3:16 (NIV) |
My pond and waterfall and the singing of birds provide a soothing ambiance. The temperature, my comfortable outdoor furniture, and the sunshine provide a great unwinding and lounging experience. In addition, a glass of water and some of my favorite recipes to snack on makes the environment virtually perfect. Of course, I enjoy using skewers for all different kinds of things. One simple example is fruit salad: when I have large chunks of melon, pineapple, apples, orange slices, and strawberries all go nicely together when arranged on a small six inch skewer.
When grilling steak outdoors you can also use a skewer. Just cut the steak into squares, maybe mix in a couple of carrots and / or small potatoes. You can grill it all up together for perfect flavor and easy to eat steak supper on a stick. But these are just the easy recipes. The following recipe is a bit more complex – but I absolutely love it.
Super Skewer Supper
The following are ingredients are those you will need before you begin:
For the skewer:
Hard salami
Deli pepperoni
Sharp cheddar (optional) or provolone cheese
Black olives
Tomatoes
Red onions
For your dressing:
1/2 a cup of olive oil
1/4 to 1/2 cups of balsamic vinegar (to taste)
1 tablespoon of basil
1 tablespoon of sage (optional) or oregano
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
Take approximately five to six inch skewers, use a folded slice of hard salami, pepperoni, a cube of sharp cheddar cheese, black olives, tomato slices, and red onion on each skewer. Mix the dressing or marinade, prepare your skewers and marinade overnight. It will only take a few moments to make the perfect dinner on a skewer when you are ready to cook out the next day.
As I have said before, one of the very best outdoor grilling accessories, in my opinion, is the skewer. Choose the perfect skewers for the perfect grill. Skewers are great for many things, however, like chopsticks, you can never have too many. There are plenty of recipes perfect for skewers, that have nothing to do with grilling, but many of these recipes are the very best grill recipes ever!
