Chicken recipe for chicken in barbecue flavored sauce

Fishers of Men

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live. John 3:16 (NIV)

We all love chicken and coming up with new ways to cook chicken is not always that easy. In the summer barbecue is always a good idea but, with this delicious and easy chicken recipe you can get that flavor with a barbecue sauce over a chicken cooked in the oven.

It is also possible to "cheat" with this easy chicken recipe and prepare the chicken up to the stage where you pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken. Let the chicken marinate in the sauce, in the fridge, for a few hours and the heat it on the outside barbecue until it is nice and brown and heated through. I think a lot of us do this, as cooking chicken on the barbecue can be a very lengthy process if you do the chicken from scratch!

Try this delicious and easy chicken recipe. You can also try the alternative barbecue sauce recipe that I'll give you after this recipe. Enjoy!

  • 2 Chickens quartered
  • 3 Medium onions
  • 1 Cup hot water

  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 Teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 Teaspoon pepper1 Bay leaf

  3. Place the pieces skin side up in an oven pan.

  4. Slice the onions over the chicken

  5. Add the hot water

  6. Cook the chicken in the oven for 30 minutes.

  7. Turn the chicken and cook for another 30 minutes.

  8. Meanwhile start the sauce, by mixing all the sauce
    ingredients together.

  9. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes.

  10. Pour the sauce over the chicken and return to the warm
    oven.

  1. Heat through well.

  2. Quickly brown the chicken a little under the grill.

Chicken Recipes: Alternative barbecue sauce for chicken.

Ingredients for this recipe:

  • 1/4lb. Butter
  • 2 Gloves garlic grated
  • 2 Table spoons tomato sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 Teaspoons apricot jam (or jelly)
  • 1 Medium sized onion grated
  • A squeeze of lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon salt
  • 1 Teaspoon peri-peri oil or a little more to taste

Method for this recipe

  1. Place all the ingredients in a pot and cook slowly, stirring frequently.

  2. Keep on cooking until the sauce becomes clear.

  3. pour the sauce over cooked chicken.

For this recipe you can also pour the sauce over pre-cooked chicken and then barbecue the chicken until nicely brown and heated through. For the best results with this method, leave the pre-cooked chicken in the sauce, in the fridge, for a few hours. Make very sure the chicken is well cooked.

I hope you enjoy these two recipes from my personal "Best Recipe Cookbook," they are real winners with my family. We love a barbecue during summer and we use these recipes regularly. All you need to serve with this tasty chicken, made with these chicken recipes, are buttered bread rolls and a mixed salad.
